Meerendal Heritage Block Pinotage

Very deep, almost opaque purple colour. Spicy red and black fruit aromas supported by strong bramble type characters on initial nose. Prune, plum and ripe dark cherry follow with a backing of rich fruit cake, spice and sweet vanilla. Big, full well-rounded mouth feel with satin smooth texture that flows across the palate a distinct yet supple tannin. Beautifully integrated oak and layers of flavour. Great balance with classy elegance. The first wine released from the Heritage Block Vineyard was the 2005 vintage. Meerendal Wine Estate is a proud founder member of the Old Vine Project of South Africa. Our Heritage Block Vineyard is one of the three oldest Pinotage vineyards in South Africa.Meerendal has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry, summers with a unique pattern of cool winds. Winters are cold and wet with an annual rainfall on the estate of a 780mm.
